Pastor Jim Warner leads the care ministry team at St. Andrew. The team only meets upon occasion but in between meetings they are busy with a ministry of writing cards and calling and visiting those who are sick, hospitalized or unable to leave their homes. They pray for those who request prayers. They also supply care booklets for adults and children on a wide range of issues. (See the racks in the lobby and outside the office.) Sometimes their care is embodied in the meals they arrange for those who need them. Love and care in the form of a lasagna!
Fellowship coordinates coffee hours, St. Andrew lunches and receptions are funerals or memorial services. Contact Cindy if you're interested in joining the team.
Organic Gardening Team
The St. Andrew green team has several ongoing projects. We plant, tend and harvest fresh, organic vegetables from our garden for use by our food pantry guests. We have planned several community Earth Day celebrations in cooperation with other churches, non-profits and the Kettle Pond Nature Center. Contact Donna Deyorio and Chris Kubacki for more information!
Climate Action Team
The Climate Action Team discusses congregational responses to climate change in terms of education and potential alternative energy strategies. Contact Jerry Pesch for more information.
Hope Circle is a diverse group of women—some of whom meet monthly and some of whom participate primarily in the preparation and implementation of plans for St. Andrew’s annual Holiday Fair. We meet the second Monday of most months at 10:00 am. Contact co-presidents, Glenda Hutchins and Elaine Briggs to find out more! Other Hope Circle leaders include: Marilyn Garrison, Barbara Leadbetter, and Lois Lovvoll.
To learn more about how to get involved in holiday fair preparations, contact Kathy Stedman, co-coordinator of the Holiday Fair. Projects and ideas are always welcome!
Landscape Garden Team
Different from the organic garden team, this group plants, tends, waters and rakes the flower gardens and other landscaped areas around the church. Much of their work is done independently, but sometimes they do a spring clean-up or a fall raking day. Many hands make light work! Contact Bob Casola or Faith and Roe LaBossiere to get connected.
The Office Team [aka: The Holy Stuffers] gathers every Friday at 9:00 to fold weekly bulletins and help with mailings for the church and preschool. We have coffee, talk and do whatever needs to be done!
This group of handy men also known as the Awesome Dudes meets Fridays at 8:30 am and does building repair, some cleaning and general maintenance of the church and grounds. They also run a pretty efficient kitchen serving coffee, donuts, soups and hot dogs for the Holiday fair; Everyone welcome!
The Monday Morning Piecemakers meet three Mondays a month at 9:00 am in the Fellowship Hall. Quilts that the group makes go to Westerly Hospital, Apple/Clipper Rehab and Linus, an organization that donates them to children. They are willing to teach if quilting is new to you! Carol Lundgren can give you more details!
