Affirm is our confirmation program for students. Students can begin Affirm in grade 6 or older. We meet once or twice a month on Sunday at 10:35 am in the fellowship hall. One meeting is for a more formal Affirm Class and sometimes we gather to engage in a community service event.
In class we hear stories from the Bible and talk about how those stories shape our lives and our faith. We learn about the roots of Lutheranism and hear about the radical reformer Martin Luther. We dive into our questions and the struggles with faith that we face every day.
Check the calendar for class schedule times.
Affirm spans two to three years and ends depending on a student’s age when they began the program. When they have completed Affirm, students present a project to the congregation on Reformation Sunday in October. This can be in their 9th grade year or older.
Students in Affirm annually go to New Hampshire for what we call Mountain Camp in June. It is at Calumet in Freedom, NH. Those entering sixth grade in the fall are invited to join us as they start Affirm—and every year after that!
